GOAL Girls Group
G.O.A.L Girls (Girls On Another Level) is a program presented by (AMERICAS BIG SISTERS NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION) dedicated to help (Black and brown Motherless teen girls, 8th-12th grade in under-served communities of the Chicagoland area living with a family member). The program was inspired by the Bible Story of Ruth and Naomi.
Mission
The mission of the GOAL Girls program is to support motherless teen girls with high school completion through a continuum of services that include mentorship, counseling, support groups, education, and other resources, to help them develop into self-confident, self-sufficient, and goal-oriented leaders.
The lack of a mother figure has been proven to effect children in the following ways.
The child may experience feelings of loneliness or worthlessness, given that they don’t receive the care and affection they need. This, in turn, can lead to anger or frustration
Whether due to lack of trust or because they have not learned the necessary social skills, children with an absent mother figure tend to have trouble connecting with others
This can lead to harmful or alternative lifestyles which can put them at risk for being sex trafficked.
This means irritability, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, lack of motivation and potentially behavior issues.
Faced with loss or absence of their mother, some children may lose their appetite. Coupled with the emotional issues previously described, as well as the potential lack of family financial resources, this can lead to problems with the child’s physical health
With absent parents, adolescents lose their key motivational factor and, therefore, worry very little about the grades they get in school.

We give girls the support they need to stay on track—ONE GOAL AT A TIME— high school graduation, careers, etc. We assist with a holistic approach towards a healthy lifestyle. We do what it takes for every day life and in times of crisis.
